A TRADITION THAT BEGAN IN
2004
Ken Ritucci, assisted by Norm Poisson, founded the Northeast Callers School in 2004 with a small group of just 10 students in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Over the years the school grew, welcomed an impressive roster of guest instructors, and in 2016 moved to Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where it continues today.
NECS has always been about more than teaching choreography. It is a place to learn from experienced leaders, try new ideas, gain confidence and leave feeling better about yourself and your calling.

Call for dancers during evening dances at the Hayloft Steppers Barn and enjoy the traditional after-parties.

Ken is a past Chairman of CALLERLAB, Chair of the Accredited Caller Coach Committee, and a recipient of the Chairman’s Award. In 2025, he received CALLERLAB’s highest honor, the Milestone Award. Ken has truly been there and done that, earning the respect of callers around the world for his decades of leadership, teaching and service to the activity.
In the early 2000s, Ken gave me my first opportunity to make a presentation to other callers. Years later, he helped me through the process of earning my CALLERLAB Accredited Caller Coach designation in 2020.
Ken has been a teacher, mentor and friend, and I consider it a true honor that he has asked me to continue carrying the Northeast Callers School forward. I’m deeply grateful for the trust and confidence he has placed in me, and I look forward to honoring the long-standing tradition he created while helping guide the school into its next chapter.
The leadership may be entering a new chapter, but the tradition Ken established remains at the heart of the school: helping callers learn, build confidence, enjoy the craft, support one another and leave better than when they arrived.
